L2 Consulting Services, Inc. Receives STC for the Installation of the Panasonic FlightLink™ Satcom System on 737NG Series Aircraft
Austin, Texas – February 06, 2018 ‐ L2 Consulting Services, Inc. (L2) announced the company has received an FAA approved Supplemental Type Certificate (ST09865AC) for the installation of Panasonic’s Iridium‐based FlightLink™ Satcom system on 737NG series aircraft. The STC applies to 737‐700,‐800, ‐900 and ‐900ER aircraft. L2 was awarded the contract by Panasonic to develop integration engineering, produce installation kits and provide overall certification and project management for the program. Additionally, L2 provides remote installation services for Panasonic’s end customer, Malaysia‐based Malindo Air.
L2 Vice President of Operations, Dean Rudolph said, “L2 is continually focused on supporting improved aviation safety and the installation of the Panasonic FlightLink™ system supports that objective.” He added, “The L2 team did an exceptional job of meeting all customer requirements in a timely and efficient manner.”
L2 installed and certified the FlightLink™ Satcom system with Panasonic’s proprietary TAMDAR weather sensor. The TAMDAR, Tropospheric Airborne Meteorological Data Reporting, sensor is a key component for collecting high quality weather data from the atmosphere during flight operations. The entire FlightLink system can also enable full flight tracking capability, adding yet another layer of safety for the operator. When combined with Panasonic’s web‐based AirMap application in the airline’s operational control center, the system satisfies ICAO’s Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System definitions for both normal and abnormal tracking.
