Consulting Services, Inc. (L2), a leading provider of
aircraft avionics systems engineering and integration,
announced that the company has been awarded the C-9B
Compliance Program for Communication, Navigation and
Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM)
Requirements on the United States Navy's fleet of C-9B
aircraft. The program was awarded to L2 Consulting
Services, Inc. by Vertex Aerospace, an L-3
Communications company based in Madison, Mississippi.
The terms of the award call for L2 to assess current
aircraft avionics configurations and recommend long-term
solutions for the CNS/ATM mandates and requirements.
Major tasks of the project include:
1) Review of all known and in-development CNS/ATM
compliance requirements through 2020.
2) Create requirement timelines based on major world
regions.
3) Conduct on-site aircraft surveys to determine
baseline avionics configurations.
4) Provide recommendations for upgrade options and
justifications, and if necessary provide rough order of
magnitude pricing for the purchase of equipment required
for compliance.
"Vertex Aerospace has come to L2 because of our
extensive avionics systems engineering, analysis and
integration experience," said L2
Vice-President-Integration, Jeff Rex. "Furthermore, we
are extremely proud to be participating in a program
that will assist the United States Navy with its
compliance efforts now and in the future."
The Navy C-9B aircraft (military version of the
McDonnell Douglas DC-9) provide cargo and passenger
transportation as well as forward deployment logistics
support around the world. The CNS/ATM program will
effectively help the Navy reach compliance requirements
throughout the major world regions and at all flying
altitudes.
