L2 Consulting Services Receives STC for Electronic
Flight Bag on Boeing 777
Austin, Texas– April 22, 2010 -L2
Consulting Services, Inc (L2) is pleased to announce
that the Federal Aviation Administration has granted the
company a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC), ST00300BO
for the installation of a DAC International, Inc. Quad
(four position) Class 3 Electronic Flight Bag (EFB)
system on Boeing 777 series aircraft. The system was
installed for ARINC on a Cathay Pacific Airways 777 and
was accomplished in Hong Kong.
L2 Vice President of Operations, Dean Rudolph said, “As
a company, L2 remains focused on ever-changing and
sophisticated avionics technology and is now excited to
offer the EFB installation on the 777.” He added,
“Essential business services such as data access,
connectivity and information technology are vitally
important to the success of airlines and L2’s EFB
installation STC will allow customers to get their work
done faster.”
System Installation Description:
The three cockpit and one cabin DAC International, Inc.
GEN-X EFBs were interfaced to multiple avionics systems
through a Ballard Technology Avionics Interface Device
(AID) AB2000 SeriesTM. Ethernet devices were
joined through the International Communication Group
eSwitch8. The EFBs were interfaced to Iridium Satcom
for real-time credit card authorization, wireless LAN
for Tech/Cabin logs and bulk EFB updates and FOQA data
downloads. ARINC’s GatefusionSM is used as
the broadband wireless connection between aircraft and
ground-based applications.
