Runway Awareness and Advisory Systems (RAAS) for 757
Improve Safety with Honeywell’s RAAS
Runway and taxiway accidents are a serious safety
concern. Honeywell’s Runway Awareness and Advisory
System (RAAS) improves situational awareness of the
flight crew during critical ground operations and a on
approach to landing, thus reducing the risk of runway
Honeywell’s RAAS provides timely aural advisories to the
flight crew during taxi, takeoff, final approach,
landing and rollout. Working with the existing Mk V and
Mk VII Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning Systems
(EGPWS), Honeywell’s RAAS uses GPS data to issue
advisories based on aircraft position when compared to
airport locations stored in the EGPWS Runway Database.
Honeywell software configuration PN -224-224 STC is
approved now for the 757 and PN -228-228 for the 767. A STC amendment is in process to amend the
STCs for Honeywell Runway Safety (SmartRunway™ and
SmartLanding™) and PN -230-230 software. Completion
expected for second quarter 2010.
